Franco Sinatra claims Junior Free-For-All
The Spreydon Lodge bred Franco Sinatra was a smart winner of the Group 2 Junior Free-For-All at Addington Raceway on New Zealand Cup Day.
The Cran and Chrissie Dalgety trained pacer bided his time in the one-one before launching at the top of the straight to nab Hadron Collider in the final strides of the 2600m feature and score by a neck.
It was the 5-year-old son of Captaintreacherous’ 11th career win, with all of them having come at Addington, and took his earnings to $162,244.
Franco Sinatra (pictured as a yearling) was purchased by Kentuckiana Lodge Ltd from the Spreydon Lodge draft at the 2001 Christchurch Yearling Sale for $55,000.
He is out of the well-performed Western Ideal mare San Rafaella, who won 10 races on the track and has gone on to be a very good producer as a broodmare, leaving seven winners from eight foals of racing age to date, including (in addition to Franco Sinatra) the stakes placed pair of Puntarno Stride and Franco Santino, as well as the smart five-win mare Swedish Franco.
