Yearling Sales wrap up
For the second successive year Spreydon Lodge has enjoyed a strong showing at the New Zealand Bloodstock Standardbred Yearling Sale, with its 2020 Christchurch based draft of nine yearlings selling for an impressive $446,000 in total.
Spreydon Lodge’s top lot was the impeccably bred Lot 224 (pictured), a filly by champion sire Bettor’s Delight out of the two-time NZ Aged Pacing Mare of the Year Nearea Franco, purchased by Lincoln Farms Bloodstock for $100,000, making her the third highest priced filly overall at the Christchurch Sale.
Other highlights included an Art Major colt out of a half-sister to the multiple Australasian Breeders Crown and US Grand Circuit winner Bit Of A Legend making $80,000 and a Father Patrick colt out of the former NZ Record Holder Hot Pants selling to Victoria’s KPC Racing for $65,000.
A Bettor’s Delight colt from the family of Sparks A Flyin, Bettor’s Fire, My Alpha Rock and Safedra also brought good money, with All Stars Racing Stables going to $60,000 to secure the well-bred youngster.
These results saw Spreydon Lodge finish Wednesday’s Sale of Pacers as the third leading vendor by aggregate.
