Spreydon Lodge colt tops NZ Premier Sale
The Spreydon Lodge consigned Franco Stallone was the highest priced yearling at the recent two-day NZ Premier Yearling Sale with the beautifully bred youngster fetching an impressive $190,000.
Interest had been strong in the Bettor's Delight - San Rafaella colt in the lead up to the Sale with buyers unable to fault the colt. With an opening bid of $100,000, the competition was fierce among buyers before leading Australian owners Emilio and Mary Rosati secured the colt with a winning bid of $190,000.
A terrific type, Franco Stallone is out the former top Western Ideal race mare San Rafaella - the winner of 10 races and over $86,000 on the track, with a lifetime mark of 1:52.3.
The North American bred San Rafaella is a daughter of San Sophia (Artsplace - Emory Girl), a full sister to the champion US filly Galleria, and the dam of good Australasian performers Raging Bull and Hilltop Sophia.
