Stunning Menangle win for Franco Nelson
The former Spreydon Lodge pacer Franco Nelson produced arguably what was one of, if not the best, at least the toughest performances ever seen at Tabcorp Park Menangle when winning in a blazing 1:50.3 mile rate after a torrid three-wide trip on Friday evening.
The recent Group 1 Bohemia Crystal Free For All winner was trapped three-wide from the outset of the 1609m feature pace but was still able to power to the lead with 400m to go and hold off the challengers to score in a lifetime best time of 1:50.3.
The Shane and Lauren Tritton trained 8-year-old has now won 23 races, including five of his seven starts for the pair, and $850,793 in stakes.
Bred by Spreydon Lodge, Franco Nelson is out of the two-win Falcon Seelster mare Notafella Franco.
