Yearling Sales wrap up
The inaugural New Zealand Bloodstock Standardbred Yearling Sale saw Spreydon Lodge achieve its best ever sales results, with its Christchurch based draft of nine yearlings selling for an incredible $522,500 in total.
Spreydon Lodge's top lot was somewhat of a surprise package, with Lot 277 (pictured), a colt by Mach Three out of Nicaea Franco, a winning half sister to the multiple Group One winner and US Grand Circuit performer Nike Franco, purchased by Lincoln Farms Bloodstock for $140,000 - making him the third highest priced yearling at Wednesday's Sale of Pacers.
Other highlights included a half brother to the dual Group One winning Western Australian 2-year-old Franco Edward selling for $80,000 to the same ownership connections of that pacer and a son of former champion New Zealand mare Nearea Franco being purchased by All Stars Racing Stables for $76,000.
A full brother to the Group Race performer Franco Cristiano also brought good money, with Nigel McGrath going to $75,000 for the well put together Bettor's Delight colt.
Spreydon Lodge's average sale price at Wednesday's Sale of Pacers was a stunning $62,563, placing Spreydon Lodge third on the list of leading vendors by average.
Likewise the Company was also the third leading vendor by aggregate.
